Exporting from the UK to the EU has been relatively simple since the Single Market began in 1993. The increasing influence of the EU on the world stage has also simplified exporting from the UK to non-EU states. Exports of goods and services from the UK to non-EU countries totalled £311 billion in 2016, compared with £110 billion in 1999.
It may be that the UK will be able to mirror these arrangements after its official withdrawal on 31 December 2019. Or, it may negotiate a transition period to delay the date of changeover. Given the criticality of the issues, however, every business should prepare now for whatever may happen. This Help With Exporting guide will facilitate this preparation.
