help with exporting brexit

The government has published a short booklet How to export goods from Great Britain into the EU.

The government has also established a series of flowcharts and provided background information to help explain the likely changes in export processes after Brexit.

You must review your current export arrangements in detail to ensure that you are ready for the inevitable challenges ahead. Below, we highlight some of the fundamental questions and critical topics that you should address:

  1. Customs and Tariffs:
    What is my market?
Am I dealing with EU 27 or non-EU?
If non-EU, is there a trade deal between the EU and this market area?
If non-EU, am I currently covered by a preferential EU trade deal?
If ‘yes’, how can I check what Brexit might mean for me in this market?
  2. Regulatory:
Are there any special requirements involved with exporting my products/services?
    Do I need a licence?
Will I need to make a new industry-specific registration, e.g. under Registration Evaluation Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (Reach) following Brexit?
  3. Regulatory:
Will product regulations change after Brexit?
Will I need to change my business regulations because of Brexit?
How will I keep up to date with regulatory changes?
  4. Finance:
    How do I get paid?
Do I need a Letter of Credit (L/C)?
If ‘yes’, how do I open an L/C?
Can I protect my outstanding due payments?
  5. Customs and Tariffs:
    Should I charge VAT?
What are the local VAT rates?
Are there other financial returns that I need to know about?
  6. Transport:
What are my options to avoid congestion at the traditional ports?
Who can help me with transport and paperwork for export markets?
For how long must I keep transport records?
  7. Legal:
How can I make sure that I comply with individual country laws?
How and where can I resolve a dispute?
