All UK-based parties that receive funding from Horizon 2020, the EU’s programme for science and innovation, are urged to register their related projects on a portal managed by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). Anna Tobin reports

In the event of a no-deal Brexit, the UK Government has outlined its commitment to underwrite funding and to extend the funding guarantee until the end of Horizon 2020. As part of this commitment, all UK recipients of Horizon 2020 funding are being asked to register data about their projects on this UKRI portal. Providing this information should ensure that the UKRI can underwrite guarantee payments if required and keep participants notified of upcoming developments.

In the event of a no-deal Brexit, after 29 March 2019 UK organisations may no longer be unable to access funding for Horizon 2020 projects. The UK Government, however, has agreed to guarantee funding for existing successfully bid Horizon 2020 projects for the full duration of the projects. This does not cover funding for organisations from other countries who are in consortia with UK participants.
